Woman's Club of Greene County
Dedicated to enhancing life in our community through volunteer service.
WHO WE ARE
The Woman’s Club of Greene County (WCOG) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit service and social organization dedicated to serving and improving both the Greene County community and our members.
Our members are community leaders who work locally to create change by advancing education, advocating for children, individuals impacted by domestic violence, and encouraging civic involvement in multiple ways.
WCOG is a member of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs and the General Federation of Women’s Clubs of Virginia, Shenandoah District.
Membership is open to women of all ages. We meet at 6:00 PM the 2nd Monday of the month, September through June in the social hall of Shepherd of the Hills Catholic Church at 6562 Amicus Road in Ruckersville, Virgnia. Annual dues are collected.
Stop Hunger in Greene continues our mission to help feed the hungry in Greene County. This is accomplished through various school programs by providing food for children throughout the year. Additionally, we help provide emergency food gift cards for at-risk families.
Since 1975, WCOG has hosted and organized the Helping Hands Craft Bazaar on the first Saturday of November, showcasing area artisans and crafters. The proceeds fund our annual Scholarship Project.
Each year since 1978 WCOG has awarded at least two scholarships to graduating female seniors at William Monroe High School. The scholarships are given each year for students seeking higher education in both two and four-year college programs. This project is partially funded by the proceeds from table rentals at our annual Helping Hands Craft Bazaar.
Spring Yard Sale
Starting in 2004, “Not Your Ordinary Yard Sale” was organized to help raise funds for Caring for Children Christmas Gift Project. The yard sale has been held each spring with generous donations from the members and the community.
